ABOUT ABOUT

Join the Student Historians of Ephrata Cloister as they present this year's Lantern Tours  This year a wedding is planned at the Historic Ephrata Cloister and you’re invited to see how it turns out.  Travel from building to building as the fictional Frau Fahnestock lends her talents in planning, style, and humor as the true historic story is told.

High school volunteers play the parts in this light-hearted look at the true story of a Sister in the Ephrata Cloister and her intended marriage to an indentured servant working for Brothers. Surviving records suggest the events surrounding the marriage took place in about 1750. Preparations for the wedding in this telling will require help creating Fraktur artwork, tailoring a suit for the groom, and creating the best possible wedding cake. Frau Fahnestock has instructions for all this work but in predictable form, things don’t always work out the way she plans.

The Lantern Tours will occur December 27, 28, 29, and 30 starting each evening at 6:00 p.m. with a new tour starting every 30 minutes until 8:30 p.m. Attendance is limited, and advance tickets are required
